Are you feeling constrained by your traditional medical job? Yearning for more variety and control in your professional life? A portfolio career might be the answer you're looking for.Â
What's a Portfolio Career?Â
A portfolio career involves combining multiple part-time jobs, freelance work, or side projects instead of working a single full-time job. It's about diversifying your professional activities to create a more fulfilling and flexible work life.Â
My Portfolio Career JourneyÂ
As a former NHS Consultant Anaesthetist, I discovered the power of a portfolio career when I added Aviation Medical Examiner (AME) work to my professional mix. This diversification transformed my outlook on work and life. I started small, with one afternoon a week, so that it was not overwhelming or scary. That was just the beginning of my portfolio career journey, and it has grown and evolved with time. I love the control that it provides and I love wearing different work hats on different days (there are also days when I wear many hats!).
